Someone is happy spring is here!

Now that it is somewhat dry outside and warmer, Megan is always wanting to go outside. She has even figured out how to open the front door to show us she is really interested about going outside. She can't open the storm door but now if I'm doing chores, I dead bolt the door just in case! When we are outside we first start with a walk, I am trying to take more and more walks without the stroller/riding toy, but most of the time, she still loves to ride in the stroller.
Megan found the she can fit into between the pot and the steps, she stands back there a lot and just leans up against the porch and watches things.
She was being goofy and this was her first attempt at a self-portrait! :)
Megan is now in love with her ladybug, or now big enough to really push it on her own, take your pick. Sometimes she will disappear into the other room then you will hear something scooting across the floor, and here she comes slowly pushing her ladybug over the carpet onto the hard wood floor. She can make it all the way around the house and knows how to get over area rugs or thresholds. It is cute to see her scoot on by.

Since it was dry and the mud was gone, I wanted to see how she would like having her ladybug outside...she didn't like it so much. The sidewalk was too bumpy and she couldn't go as fast as she can inside. As you can see from the video, she just stopped riding him. He now stays inside all the time.
Sometimes I want to know what she is thinking. She loves to sit on the rocks we have in our front yard. On this day, she sat on almost every rock and worked her way around the circle. She started from little to big and wanted me to join her half way through, but then when she went back to the little rocks, she found it very funny that I couldn't sit on all the rocks she could.
This is her favorite cluster of rocks to sit on, I don't know if it's because I can sit next to her or if it's because she can get on them easy, but either way these are the rocks she prefers.
Well, they were the rocks she preferred. It wasn't until she started sitting on the other rocks that she realized she should sit on the huge thing that is by the steps. So now when she sit on the "preferred rocks" she will point over to this big rock and then I have to help her get on it. Sometimes she will sit there for a few minutes, other times she hops right off. Like I said, sometimes I want to know what is she thinking!?!

Where has this been all my life!?!

Monday was my birthday and the day started off kind of rough for Megan. She was drinking her milk out of a sippy cup after breakfast and she slipped and fell on her face. The sippy cup was pushed into her mouth causing a lot of bleeding. She didn't cry very long, but after 15 minutes of me not being able to stop the bleeding I called the doctor and they told me to come in so they could look at it. I quickly changed my shirt, since it looked like a scene from a horror movie and off we went. 3 minutes later and still bleeding we just needed to wait for the nurse to call us back. When we got back in the room, the bleeding had stopped, but Megan was crying again.
After holding her down so the doctor could look in her mouth, he said that her teeth were fine (it looked like they had been pushed up into her gums) but what really happened was she tore a little piece of her gums. She tore the little piece that you can feel if you put your finger in between your tip lip and gum. Since that was torn it just made it look like her teeth were pushed into her gums. She is fine, but her smile looks a little different now. I think the worst part for Megan was not being able to brush her teeth for a few days.
So after the rough day and in celebration of my birthday we went for ice cream and Megan got to enjoy her first ice cream cone! (Grandma Schutte should be so proud) The first picture is of her first taste and this picture is the after thought of her first taste.
Here she is trying to figure out how to lick the cone. She was doing little quick licks to start...
...but quickly figured out how to take one big lick!
She even liked the soggy cone! It took her a while to finish the cone, but she was very neat and clean the whole time. So I'm sure that more ice cream cones are in her future!
Oh and you'll notice the cheesy looking clip in her hair. When I first started putting a clip in her hair to keep it our of her eyes, she sat still and liked having her hair done. Now she likes it when I comb her hair and spray stuff in it, but the second a clip gets close to her head she says "oww" even though I'm not touching her. So in order to get a clip in, I have to give her something exciting to hold and clip it ASAP. The results aren't perfect but her hair is out of her eyes.

Raking Leaves in March???

On Saturday we took advantage of the beautiful weather to finish raking leaves that we never got to last fall before the snow came. After spending some time with Grandma, Megan came home to take a nap and woke up refreshed to help us with the clean up. We only have 2 rakes so Megan is using a broom to push the leaves around.
Monkey see, monkey do!
"Oh, got to get the leaves over here now."
Once Megan saw the box of bags she was obsessed with them. She would pull a bag out and walk it over to the trash can and then would try with all her might to put the new bag inside. When I told her, "No, we don't need a new bag yet." She would drop that bag and walk over to the box to get another bag out. Repeat this 6 times until finally the box was empty. Once it was empty she then figured out how to open the bag ever so slightly and began to put leaves in one at a time. It was very cute!
Just proof that she got in her 15 minute break! Nothing like some water and blueberries to help get some strength back.

Enjoying the sunshine

A couple days ago, we had beautiful weather in Michigan. So of course Megan wanted to soak up as much sunshine as she could. We spent the afternoon outside with a couple of Megan's friends, Paws and Mickey. Everyday when I get Megan out of her crib she says "Minnie" which oddly means "Mickey" and "baws" which means "paws" This are her friends that she takes almost every where.
Just watching everything that is going on. We had lots of kids, puppies, and bikes going down the street, so of course Megan was trying to take it all in. I think she spent more time just watching then she did playing. She is definitely an observer, so I wasn't really shocked that she spent a lot of time people watching.

Even in the middle of winter when we went outside Megan wanted to ride in her car (and every thing else that had wheels in the garage) But today we were able to take a walk verses just pushing her around in the driveway. I can't wait for this weather to stay so we can have more days like this, but sadly being Michigan, right now it is cold and rainy (read muddy) Lucky for us, we are almost guaranteed great weather on the cruise, so Megan should have a ton of time to soak up the sunshine then (of course she will be covered in mass amounts of sunblock, so don't worry)

Look What I Can Do...

I can brush my teeth!
Every morning after breakfast Megan will point at the bathroom and say "teeth" Then I ask her where she needs to be to brush her teeth, and she'll say "bumbo" She gets to pick where she wants to brush her teeth, living room or bathroom, and once I hand her the tooth brush she is as happy as can be.
She is getting really good at brushing back a forth. Right now it is 50/50 on brushing/sucking the toddler tooth paste of the brush.
I can climb onto my toy box all by myself!
Yes, the ladybug served as a great step, but before she just used it to reach toys in the toy box. This was the first time she climbed on top!
I can put Daddy's socks on!
Mark was upstairs folding laundry with Megan's "help" When they came down, she modeled this fabulous outfit!
I can color!
I bought these crayons that are meant for toddlers a while ago, but the first time we tried, Megan wasn't interested in them. I pulled them out the other day and she loves to color! She is really good at scribbles!
Just checking out the pretty colors!
The crayons that were in the plastic holders were a pain so we have upgraded to big triangle crayons! Megan's likes them a whole lot better! She is very good she knows that the crayons stay on the paper. Every once and a while she will try to walk around with them and when I ask "Where do the crayons belong?" She runs back to her table and puts the crayons on the paper :) So far no accidents (knock on wood)
I can help pack for the cruise!
Megan found some of my old (I wouldn't even think of wearing them now!!!) bathing suits in on of my drawers and EVERY DAY she puts all of them on and walks around. But she takes them off and puts them back in the drawer when she is done with them, so I don't really care if she wants to play with them.
As you can see Megan is quickly learning to do all sorts of fun things. She is also starting to expand her vocabulary. Most of her words still need translation, but she is getting really good at picking up sounds and repeating words. Things are really fun at our house!

Lots of fun Adrian Hockey Pictures

This weekend was a hockey filled weekend. We went to 2 games on Saturday (Adrian only played in one) and then we went to the Harris Cup Finals on Sunday. Megan was thrilled to watch 3 hockey games! I put her hockey jersey on today 3 hours before the game and as soon as she had it on she wanted to put her coat on and go to the game. When I told her that she needed to take a nap first then we would go to the game, she cried hysterically! Now for any of you that have met Megan you know that that is WAY out of character for her. What can I say, she love hockey!
Oh yeah, she also loves hockey players! She spent most of the intermissions (after the Zamboni was done) flirting with the men in the press box. Some on them were "press" and some were hockey players, either way I'm sure Mark is now convinced that Megan will NOT be dating until she is 30+
This is the reason why Megan loves the Bulldog so much! He is so funny to watch during intermissions. Megan has a gift of being able to spot him any where in the crowd, she loves him.
The Bulldogs win!!! Adrian College won the Harris Cup 2 years in a row, keep in mind that they have only had a team for two years! It was such a good season to watch, we are so glad there is a hockey team in Adrian now.
Umm, I think they left some stuff behind.
After the presentation for awards, Coach Fogarty wanted all of the friends, family and fans to come onto the ice to celebrate their win with they players. So of course our first stop was with the Bulldog.
Megan has a couple little hockey sticks at home, but I really think she wanted to take this one.
Just checking out the goal.
And she wanted to check out the goal again! So Conary, at this rate, in a couple years, you might have to teach your cousin how to play goal. Because it looks like she has her heart set on being a goalie!
Notice that Megan is looking at the guys, NOT the camera! #11 Mike Fiorillo was up in the press box at lot this season, so Megan would always watch him walk up the steps. He would always wave to her and when he saw Megan on the ice, he told Mark that "She is just adorable" While they were talking Brad Fogal (goalie) came over and joined in the picture. When he skated away, Megan ran after him, not sure if it was because he was the goalie, or if it was because he is cute.
"What's that Captain Adam Krug, you want me to take a picture with you!?!"
I'm not sure if it was before this laugh or after, but Adam wanted Megan to sit in the Harris Cup...Megan did not want to sit in the Harris Cup (my dad has those pictures on his camera) Either way, Adam was very sweet with Megan.
So as you can see, we love watching these guys play. We have seen them out in public a few times and they are all very nice and respectful men. We will have to wait and see if Adrian gets a bid for the Division III Tournament, but either way this was a great season and we are proud of our Bulldogs!
